Bismillahi Rahmani Raheem,
Assalamu alaykum warahmatullahi wabarakatu, dear sister,
Trust you are are doing well, striving and thriving.
If you live in my country (Nigeria), you must have been HIT with at least one inconvenience in the past couple of weeks. We know the issues, this is not a reminder but a reflection. With everything going on, I tried to take a step back and look at things differently, I tried to find the ease. Not an easy task, I tell you but when I dug deep, it was definitely there.
A few conversations with family over the weekend, also brought up some important reflection points. Interested?
The first one was ‘When I say I believe in Allah do I really believe in Him?’ This is a reflection point I noted from a talk by Sh. Abdullah Oduro. It struck me when he said it, but this past week, it sunk in. Allah has told me that He is the best of planners, the best of providers and assured me that He will not give me more than I can bear. I know that, I have been reminded many times, but do I truly believe it?
Oh Allah, I beg you for faith that settles deep in my heart, a true conviction so that I understand that nothing can afflict me beyond what you have decreed for me and satisfaction with the provision which you have apportioned for me.
The second thing that came up for me was this beautiful Du’a from The Accepted Duas, a collection of Duas from the Quran and Hadith. The incidents of these past couple of weeks made this Du’a shine for me. I could see the comfort and the possibilities that could arise from having a deep level of faith. It is no coincidence that my class this week was also centred on the story of Prophet Ibrahim (A role model, actual goals right there!) and he is unwavering conviction when he was thrown into the fire.
The last thing is the importance of the trial checklist. I have gone through different versions of this one, but it always comes through. The current one might be slightly different from what you got last week, but hopefully that guide will help you tailor it for you. It is so easy to get caught up in the events we face that we might fall into the The Cancer of Complaining ,which distracts us from who can save us - Allah.
This week’s letter is for me, I am not going to lie, I wrote this for myself. It is a reminder to me. There is also a list of Duas for difficulty here that, In sha Allah, you will find useful.
O Allah, there is no ease except in that which You have made easy, and You make the difficulty easy when You wish. (Ibn Hibbān 2427, Ibn al-Sunnī 351)
This week’s IbadahPlug is a mix of everything, Insha Allah, you will find them useful and just jaw-dropping like I did!
Shaykh Abdul Nassir Jangda’s sermons are just so amazing! I always find them to be filled with compassion, depth and always delivered so well. This was a good one, a really good one.
