Will You Respond To His Call?

Assalamu alaykum wa rahmatuLlah wa barakaatuh.

Trust that you're good, striving, and thriving.

It was the call for Adhan, and I watched people slowly rising from their slumber, gravitating to the place of prayer. As they moved in a single direction, it was beautiful to see their eagerness to respond to the call to prayer. As they did so, I couldn't help but think of this verse:

ٱللَّهُ يَتَوَفَّى ٱلْأَنفُسَ حِينَ مَوْتِهَا وَٱلَّتِى لَمْ تَمُتْ فِى مَنَامِهَا ۖ فَيُمْسِكُ ٱلَّتِى قَضَىٰ عَلَيْهَا ٱلْمَوْتَ وَيُرْسِلُ ٱلْأُخْرَىٰٓ إِلَىٰٓ أَجَلٍۢ مُّسَمًّى ۚ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَـَٔايَـٰتٍۢ لِّقَوْمٍۢ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ ٤٢

˹It is˺ Allah ˹Who˺ calls back the souls ˹of people˺ upon their death as well as ˹the souls˺ of the living during their sleep. Then He keeps those for whom He has ordained death, and releases the others until ˹their˺ appointed time. Surely in this are signs for people who reflect.

Maybe it was the movement or the fact that they returned from a mini-death, I don’t know what it was, but it got to me. Or maybe it was the realization that they were the ones who Allah had returned, I cannot say for sure. Alhamdullillahi, I'm blessed to be in a gathering of people who are dedicated to give the final lap (last 10 nights) their best. They have all come from different places to spend their nights in His worship.

 I have watched them come to Him in different ways when they hear the Adhan...

Some have risen quickly

Others slowly

Some with walking aids

Others with support for their backs.

All of them in different situations..

Some while juggling multiple deliverables

Others with children in tow

Some with their last bit of energy

Some with only 3 hours or less after a long work day.

But  all with a strong determination and unwavering commitment to  respond to His call.

Irrespective of what was going on, they all chose to connect to their creator, they chose to respond.

The final lap is here and you still have a few days to respond too.

You can make that choice to connect to your Creator.

It doesn't matter how far you've moved, you can come back.

It does not matter how much you are juggling, you can make space.

He is there, He will always be there.

Leave the feelings they are an aside , you don't need to feel it, you just need to come.

It is your turn to use these final days to respond to His call.

وَإِذَا سَأَلَكَ عِبَادِى عَنِّى فَإِنِّى قَرِيبٌ ۖ أُجِيبُ دَعْوَةَ ٱلدَّاعِ إِذَا دَعَانِ ۖ فَلْيَسْتَجِيبُوا۟ لِى وَلْيُؤْمِنُوا۟ بِى لَعَلَّهُمْ يَرْشُدُونَ ١٨٦

When My servants ask you ˹O Prophet˺ about Me: I am truly near. I respond to one’s prayer when they call upon Me. So let them respond ˹with obedience˺ to Me and believe in Me, perhaps they will be guided ˹to the Right Way˺.

May Allah bless you to witness Lailatul Quadri.

May He respond to your spoken and unspoken Duas.

May He bless you with the best.

May He bless you to leave this month with Taqwa and carry forward the habits you pick up into many months to come.

May He respond to your call as you respond to His.

May He bless you with Barakah in your energy and grant you the strength and determination to fulfill the best acts of worship in these final nights.
