Asalam alaekum salam waramatullahi wabarakatu ,
Trust you are well, striving and thriving.
This is a gratitude note I wrote recently and decided to share here.
Writing my Gnote when I should be figuring out Sahur (May I not regret this decision..Ameen!) Alhamdullilahi for what I consider to be one of my greatest gratitude moments this year! Yesterday I went to where I used to live and I was FILLED with immense gratitude.
I drove past the house I used to live in, visited my ‘estate granny’ and I prayed in my old mosque. I really didn't like living there! But if I didn't, I won't be here feeling this immense gratitude today.
Some things changed and some reminded the same. I saw a young girl living with a disability with her father at the mosque, she's still in the same condition but can speak slightly better now, Her father still goes with her to the mosque for every prayer just like he used to then! When it was time to pray ,he sent her to the women’s section like he used to then and I took care of her just like I used to.
My ‘estate grandma’ is old and frail (Please say a prayer for her)! It was so good to see her! We talked about the good old days when we used to go to the mosque together with her husband then (May Allah grant him Jannah) . It was a blessing to spend time with her again.
Guys I lived there 4 years ago!!!!! Can you believe it? I'm grateful for growth, for change, for answered prayers ,for a significant upgrade! I'm grateful for it all.
Another thing that struck me are the many things that remained the same..
The lady with the small kiosk selling fruits,The Imam, all the same!
But here I am, I have changed so much! I don't know how to explain, so many significant shifts happened in my life!
This is huge reminder for me to always look back and be grateful. Also to use what God has given me to SERVE Him!
He has blessed me , blessed and blessed me! I can't deny it!
I'm grateful.
When was the last time you revisited a place or moment from your past? What did it teach you about gratitude and how far you’ve come?
