‘Happy shopping’ she said and chuckled as I waddled out of her room with a of bag of shiny items! My friend had once AGAIN carried out a seemingly difficult task so effortlessly!
Years ago when I was in class where this famous task was assigned. You could hear the grumbling and feel the silent protest in the air when we were told. Everyone left class that day wondering HOW they were going to get it done. But here was my friend, breezing through the task, without thinking twice.
What was it you may ask? I will tell you, but first let me give you some context. You see, the class was about the love of this world and how it important it is for us to hold the Dunya in our hand and BOOT IT out of our hearts (Yes, it is that serious o!).
Anyway, it was pretty scary to learn about the things that we were caught up with , that held little value to our final destination. It was even scarier as we reflected and untangled the thjings that occupied our hearts.
The class was a combination of eye-opening and never-wrecking all at the same time. I am however super grateful for the wake-up call! It made me realise what a materialistic world we live in and how we acquire a ton of stuff that we struggle to account even on earth! Ya Allah, save us from punishment on the day of judgement! Let us be of those who prepare for a good ending and receive your mercy.
As we wrapped the class, Ustadh gave us a simple task ; When next your siblings come around, let them go into your wardrobe and take anything they like. I am not even going to lie, I thought to myself, anything bawo? Is this task for everyone or restricted to a certain kind of creation that I do not know. Anyway, that was the task and please do not ask me if I did it or not, that is not the point.
Fast forward to 2023 and I am standing Infront of my friend’s wardrobe, with a shiny offer to go through it and look for what fits me. Just so we are clear, she had just done the same for another one of our friends, a day before. In fact, she is known for her generosity and the ability to give things away so freely. What strikes me is the way she gives without ‘feeling it’…
I REALLY admire this quality about this dear sister of mine, it is beautiful experience and definitely something to aspire for. It is a blessing to know someone who attaches very little to material things and has no problem letting go.. TALK ABOUT GOALS!
You already know your task for the week, but I will state it again , so you do not miss it.
Task: Invite your siblings/friends over , take them to your wardrobe and let them take any item(S) they want. Describe how you felt after this task. Schedule these random giveaways as often as possible!
Incase, you are looking for inspiration to get it done..
'Abdullah ibn az-Zubayr said, "I have never seen two women more generous than 'A'isha and Asma'. Their generosity was different. 'A'isha used to gather things and after they had been collected together, she would share them out. Asma' would not keep anything for the next day."

Incase you need an extra dose of inspiration, the reflection for the week is right below.
REFLECTION OF THE WEEK
‘Imagine you have been on a long, one-way flight to a foreign country that you have never been to. You are going to be here for a long time, so you brought everything you could think of that would be valuable to you.
Your flight lands and you head over to baggage claim. You find your suitcases, but they feel very light. You are confused and concerned. You panic and open them immediately. You are shocked when you see that they are completely empty.
What a calamity! We would do anything to avoid being in such a predicament! And we would try to help prevent anyone else we know from being in a situation like this.
Similarly, if we go through life packing our spiritual bags with things that cannot come with us to the akhirah, we would also face a painful disappointment after our journey in this life is over (may Allah protect us).’…. -A Siddiqui
Long time , no convert story! If you think I will get over them, you are wrong! Caught up on this one over the weekend and LOVE LOVE LOOOOVED IT! May Allah bless us with guidance always and keep us on this blessed path of Islam.
Till Next Week, Insha Allah
We leave you in Allah’s care,
