Asalam Alaekum Waramatullahi Wabarakatu,
Trust you are well, striving and thriving, In shaa Allah.
And He has granted you all that you asked Him for. If you tried to count Allah’s blessings, you would never be able to number them. Indeed humankind is truly unfair, ˹totally˺ ungrateful.1
(Surah Ibrahim verse 34)
Spoke to dear sister of mine today and she was talking about the importance of taking stock of your provisions (or at least attempting to) and how it expands our sense of gratitude. She went on to mention one of her blessings that she realized recently, the ability to recover quickly from trials and keep things moving. When she mentioned it, I thought to myself what truly a blessing it is to be able to pick yourself up when life attempts to knock you down! Isn’t this part of Allah’s Rizq that we forget to ‘count’? And there are so many others, Is it the ideas we get for free? The motivation to work when we just want to roll in bed all day or the reminders to serve Him? I could go on and on and on!
If I even attempt to take stock, we will not leave here today. I will probably need to start a series and even with that, I am not sure that I will be able to get through them all. These past couple of months, Allah has sent OPPORTUNITIES my way! I am so grateful because, as a serial recovering planner, my plan has not been planning at all! But Allah is SO MERCIFUL! He has blessed me to serve in ways that I could not have thought of. From executing projects to providing advice and support, and giving talks (even after all my grumbling) Allah has helped me rack up those deeds!
It is also the subtle planning and execution of these things for me! He knows the kind of person I am (Who knows me better ehn?), so He presented these things to me in the best way. He then inspired me to make those commitments and to top it off, gifted me with reminders that made sure that I would not wriggle out of them.
Last week, He gave me the best reminder through a class that covered the qualities of hypocrites, one being their inability to fulfill commitments. That was enough to keep me in check! May we not be counted as hypocrites o! Ah!
But it is not just me, He has been super generous to you too! How you may wonder? Let me break it down!
He has blessed us with Muharram(The Month of Allah), a sacred month filled with opportunities to connect with Him. Can you believe it!!!!!
Then there is the day of Ashura
Then there are the white days
and ALL the deeds we can do(charity ,prayer, Dhikr reciting the Quran)
and the reward of fasting 🥹🥹🥹🥹
If you missed out on the ten best days of the year, this special month is here again for you! If you feel like you did not ‘kill it’( not the best term, but I need to drive the point home, please do not be angry🫤) during Ramadan , well, He has presented an opportunity for you to go again!
This is a BLESSED month with many opportunities to please your creator! So dust yourself up, prepare all you need to this weekend, purify your thoughts, wash that prayer mat and clothes (While you are it), and set your intentions to make the most of this blessed month. It is also important to avoid sins as much as possible in this month.
May Allah reward us for more than we have intended, May He grant us the strength we need to perform the acts most loved by Him. May He bless us with the best companions on this journey and May He never count us amongst the careless ones that take His generosity for granted.
Please keep me in your Duas.
REFLECTION OF THE WEEK
Walking the streets of Paris with swollen feet, I truly understood the meaning of striving.
We often operate within our comfort zones, avoiding the challenge of pushing our limits. This is equally true for striving in the way of Allah.
I find myself questioning:
Am I doing enough? Am I pushing beyond my self-imposed boundaries, or am I simply staying within the confines of my comfort zone?
I REALLY enjoyed watching this! I think it shares a very different perspective on Hijrah and how best to implement it! Powerful and practical session in my opinion and definitely worth listening to!
This has all the resources for Muharram from a life with Allah! There are videos, articles and an E-book, the choice is yours!
All errors (and typos) are from me and all good is from Allah.
We leave you in Allah's care,
