Girl! What are you doing with your life?😧
Please pray that Allah grants our brothers and sisters in Sudan, Gaza, and Congo ease, protection, provision, and victory. Please pray that He replaces all they have lost with that which is better, Ameen. Please donate here: launchgood.com
Asalam Alaekum Waramatullahi Wabarakatu,
Trust you are well, striving and thriving, In shaa Allah.
It has been a while since I wrote a letter and just sent it out on a whim! Most of the things that you get here have been sitting in my drafts, marinating for days sometimes weeks. After sitting in a transformative last-day leader session though, I decided that this one has to go out tonight!
My head is still full, my chest a little tight and I am still thinking about my life (A usual occurrence when I sit in these kinds of sessions) but I will attempt to share notes and also some reflection questions for myself hoping that you can make sense of them. After raving about Iqbal’s courses that are now free I decided to sign up for two of them, because, have you seen the Naira exchange rate, please????? I am not complaining sha, Allah has been INCREDIBLY merciful and generous to me as always. Being able to take this course is a blessing to me and I am sure a lot of other people dealing with the current inflation. Alhamdullilahi! I do want to encourage you though, to please support his work by donating and making a ton of Duas for him. Our contributions will help to get his work to more people and Insha Allah will be recorded for you too.
Now to my notes, here they are in no particular order:
1. The 5 pillars of Islam support our purpose and the work we are meant to do on earth. I love how he broke them down so beautifully into:
Shahada -Conviction
Solah-Connection
Zakat-Contribution
Sawm -(Self)Control
Hajj -Conquering. He broke this down further based on his recent Hajj, explaining how it requires a complete conquering of your ego and how you feel your ego being crushed when you are out there.
2. Fulfilling your potential on earth- Remembering how it should be more than just ‘getting by’ and doing the bare minimum and instead focusing on using our skills, qualities, and unique strengths to further God's cause.
3. The importance of filtering our micro-actions and viewing through them the lens of how they add to getting us to our main goal. This goal is Allah being pleased with us on the last day.
4. We should remember that we are representatives of Allah on earth and should therefore strive to fulfill his cause.
5. We should push ourselves to operate at our full potential for His sake.
6. We should surround ourselves with a community striving for God's cause just like the companions. Our times together should be meaningful and filled with purpose.
7. We all need to have self-awareness. There is so much we can learn about ourselves and Allah teaches us this through our tests and blessings. We just need to pay attention to the signals.
8. Being Muslim should be seen as being an example to others. It is a position/title just like we have at work and we are expected to take it as seriously (maybe even more) live up to it and not just occupy the position.
We should be conscious of our role in society, contribute positively to it, and remember that we will be held accountable for it.
I made more notes but they do not do justice to the session, the full session is the real deal!
Verses To Reflect On
Surah Hajj( Verse 1 -2)
Surah Hajj (Verse 77-78)
They are HEAVY!
Reflection Questions.
Girl! What are you doing with your life?😧
How does my hereafter reflect in my current overall direction in life?
Girl! What are you doing with your life oooo 😞😞😞(I had to repeat this)
How have I used the tools and resources I have to further God’s cause?
I have no further comments because as you might have figured, I am still thinking about my life. Your Duas are needed.
You can join the course here, so we can think about our lives together.
AA PLUS IS OPEN FOR A WEEK, PEOPLE!!!!!!!
Speaking of companions,(Well I actually spoke about it in point 6, but I had to make this flow somehow😂) One of my homes is open ooo! This home comes with blessings, a mom, sisters, and pretty much everything you need to feel at home (Y’all have to give me credit for my lyrical prowess tonight! These rhymes are RHYMING😎) Anyway, it is open for one week only and I find a lot of peace here, to be honest. It is warm, cozy, and is steady activating the calmer, softer, gentler part of being a Muslim which I appreciate. ‘Not every day, threats of how you will go to hellfire if you don’t…’ Sometimes Instead, lean into the remembrance of Allah’s attributes of mercy, compassion, and kindness.
You can join by clicking the link below. It also has a beautiful PDF that gives you all the information you need on the page too.
Tonight, I am not sharing any reflections from QuranReflect.com , those verses shared from the session are enough to reflect on😔
All errors (and typos) are from me and all good is from Allah.
We leave you in Allah's care,
